On June 2nd, 2023, in Gabasawa local government in Kano State, 18 person's were burnt to death as two vehicles collided with one another.
In this deadly incident, it was reported that 12 other passengers were badly injured in the crash, while five other people were without injuries. The survivors were hospitalized while the bodies that were burnt without recognition were instantly buried at the scene. The remaining bodies were sent to their relatives.
The FRSC Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu spoke against night travel, overtaking vehicles on the road and overloading vehicles more than its capacity. He urged motorists to be careful as they ply the roads to prevent accidents from occurring.
Another incident occurred in the Kano area of Mallam Kato Square on 3rd June 2023 around 5:43pm, where seven people were trapped.
Fortunately, few minutes after the incident occurred, they were rescued by the Kano State Fire Service and were taken to the hospital. Five of them had minor injuries while the remaining two were severely injured.
Though no life was lost, the cause of the accident is still being investigated.
