ASHON COMMENT ON DANGOTE REFINERY OPERATIONS

1. Congratulatory Message from ASHON:
The Association of Securities Dealing Houses of Nigeria (ASHON) congratulated Aliko Dangote, the founder and CEO of Dangote Group, on the successful commencement of operations at the Dangote Refinery.

2. Refinery Capacity:
The Dangote Refinery has a production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.

3. Statement from ASHON Leadership:
Sam Onukwue, Chairman of ASHON, and Athan Ogbozor, Executive Secretary, highlighted that the refinery’s launch would transform Nigeria’s economy and energy sector. They commended Dangote's resilience and commitment.

4. Positive Impact on the Economy:
ASHON noted that the refinery is expected to:
- Create jobs
- Increase government revenue
- Enhance energy security

5. Boost to the Stock Market:
ASHON anticipated that the refinery’s operation would attract foreign investments and improve investor confidence in Nigeria's economic prospects.

6. Dangote’s Contributions:
The association expressed hope that both the Nigerian government and citizens would continue to recognize Dangote’s contributions, particularly in shielding Nigeria from negative external economic forces and the burden of oil subsidies.

7. Refinery Timeline:
Construction of the refinery began in 2016 in the Lekki Free Zone, Lagos. Although it was opened in May 2023, operations officially commenced on January 12, 2024.

8. ASHON’s Best Wishes:
ASHON conveyed their well-wishes to Dangote, hoping for his continued good health to enjoy the benefits of his vision for Nigeria.
