Following Pres. Tinubu's directive that no ransom should be paid for the release of the school children, the bandits have demanded N1 billion as ransom for their release.

On March 7, 2024, the bandits invaded the Government Secondary School and LEA Primary School in the Kuriga area of Chikun LGA in Kaduna State, kidnapping 287 students and staff.

The bandits have given the parents of the victims till March 27, 2024, to pay the ransom or risk losing their children and loved ones. The community leaders revealed that the kidnappers had been communicating with them through a hidden number.

The entire community and parents of the students have been thrown into a state of shock and despair since the incident occurred on March 7, 2024. As a result, residents are now evacuating their families to neighboring communities for safety.
