The Maryland State of USA has declared a state of emergency as a cargo ship crashed into Francis Scott Baltimore Key Bridge in the early hours of Tuesday morning, around 1:30 am resulting in its collapse.

As of the time of reporting, only two people have been rescued so far after the Singapore-flagged ship Dali hit the bridge which is about 1.6 miles long and 184 feet above the water. At least seven people are missing but the number of casualties remains unknown.

Some building contractors working on the bridge were also there during the occurrence. The cargo ship owned by Singapore's Grace Ocean Pte was hired by shipping company Maersk and was supposed to arrive at Colombo, Sri Lanka on 22nd April 2024.
