Prof. Nosa Owens-Ibie is the Vice Chancellor of Caleb University. The private University is located in Ikorodu, Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Rd, Imota, Lagos State. It was founded in 2007, and Chief (Dr.) Edwin K. Clark is the Chancellor.

In an oncoming conference to hold on June 23rd and 24th at the University of Leeds in England, Caleb University's VC, Prof. Nosa, will be discussing the opportunities, challenges, and innovations in higher education, while using Nigeria as a case study.

This information was revealed to the public via a statement released by the University's Public Relations, Protocol, and Marketing Director, Dr. Elvis Otobo.

The main topic is 'Higher Education Pedagogies in Africa: Looking Back to a Prosperous Future.'

The VC reacted by saying, "The British roots of higher education in Nigeria are evident not only in its context, affiliation, promoters, and the shape of its implementation but also in the logic that drives its initial expansion. From 1932 when Yaba Higher College was established in Lagos as the first higher institution in Nigeria, to 1948 when the University College opened in Ibadan as an affiliate of the University of London, the progression has been inextricably linked to its roots in the British system, although there have been significant incursions in recent times by the United States."

The statement further stated that Prof. Nosa would use the development of Nigerian institutions as a case study and sight relevant developments across African institutions as a whole.

Masterminds in different institutions will attend the conference to brainstorm and compare unique ideas directed at formulating a new framework while addressing the challenges of universities, as well as identifying opportunities to better future institutions.

The masterminds to speak at the conference are as follows:

1. Professor Andrew Azzopardi, Dean – Faculty of Wellbeing, University of Malta

2. Dr. Pamela Barber-Freeman, Prairie View A&M University, Texas

3. Dr. Patricia Hoffman-Miller, Prairie View A&M University, Texas

4. Professor Laurette Blakey Foster, Executive Director, HBCU Faculty Development Network

5. Professor Chang Heng-hao, National Taipei University

6. Dr. Claire Brown, Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership

7. Dr. Yap, Meen Sheng, Dean of Students, Student SUcceSS Centre, Singapore University of Social Sciences

8. Dr. Jeremiah E. Shipp, Winston-Salem State University
