Senator Dino Melaye, a former lawmaker from Kogi West, has lost the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket to Hon. T.J Yusuf, a member of the House of Representatives.
We recall that the Kogi West PDP Senatorial primary election ended in a tie, with Dino Melaye receiving 88 votes and TJ Yusuf receiving 88 votes, forcing a rerun election on Tuesday.
Hon. T. J. Yusuf won the PDP ticket in a rerun election on Tuesday, defeating Sen. Dino Melaye 163 to 99 votes.
Yusuf extended an olive branch to his co-contestants after he was declared the winner, urging them to join hands with him to win the general election.
He praised the primaries' orderly conduct and promised to keep up his good work if re-elected in the general election.
