FG offers N62,000 as the new minimum wage

The Federal Government has offered to increase the minimum wage to N62,000 while the Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) reduced their demand to N250,000. The new minimum wage approved by the Government sparked reactions in the media with many lamenting the little increment.

Recall that FG encouraged the NLC to call off the strike stating it is willing to pay a minimum wage of above N60,000. NLC agreed with the condition of receiving a new figure from the FG, not knowing the Government would propose N62,000 as the new minimum wage. Nigerians found this deceptive to the NLC and are blaming the FG for adding just N2,000 to the proposed amount.

Worry fills the minds of many as NLC is yet to release an official statement about its stance on the proposed minimum wage.
