The Federal Government has announced that Pres. Tinubu will launch the student loan scheme on Thursday, 14th March 2024.

This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale on Sunday, 10th March 2024.

He said, "Later this week, on Thursday, the President will launch the historic National Student Loan Programme.

This is a major form of obligation reduction for Nigerians and families and young people at a time when Nigerians are feeling the pinch. We believe this is the way to go."

Pres. Tinubu signed the Access to Higher Education Act bill into law in June 2023 to allow students gain access to interest-free loans to sponsor their education. Pres. Tinubu made plans to launch the scheme in September 2023 but it was abruptly delayed.
