According to reports, the tanker which was filled to the brim, lost control and fell onto the ground, causing a spill which resulted in a fire outbreak.

The tanker fell as it was trying to maneuver the deteriorating road on Ugbenu Koko Junction along Warri-Benin road. The explosion didn't happen immediately as young boys were captured at the scene fetching the fuel into containers.

Unfortunately, the tanker exploded and claimed five lives instantly including the young boys who went to scoop the fuel. Two tankers, eight buses, two cars, motorcycles and five trailers were burnt beyond repair from the explosion.

The bodies of the victims were taken to Ogbara General Hospital Mortuary in Delta State where their families will receive them after.
