The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has led a delegation to Patigi over the incident that happened recently over a boat mishap.

He led the government delegation on Wednesday to Patigi and this was to commiserate with the families that were affected in the incident.

Recall the boat accident happened on Monday. About a 100 people who had gone for a wedding were returning when the boat capsized claiming their lives.

So many people have been confirmed dead by the local authority.

The Governor alongside Senator Sadiq Umar of Kwara North, Hon. Muhammad Kareem from the House of Assembly Patigi State Constituency and Hon. Ahmed Adam Rufai, first went to the palace of the Etsu Patigi. Then they visited the communities that were affected in the accident.

He revealed how sad the incident was and they sympathized with the victims and families.

He also revealed how they are working on taking measures as they are having discussions with Nigeria Inland Waterway Authority (NIWA). This is so as to enforce safety codes.

He revealed that their immediate step is to deliver at least 1000 life jackets and this will be to support safe travels on water in the area.

He also said that the government will also design and release some statewide standard operating procedures (SOPs) for water travels.

They have promised to set up a body that oversees water transportation in the state.
