The Governor of Oyo State, Gov Seyi Makinde is set to review the minimum wage for workers in Oyo State due to the fuel subsidy removal.

These are part of the steps he is taking to ensure that the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy is lessened on workers in Oyo State.

He is taking action by reviewing their salaries to help them..

This is coming after a proposed nationwide strike commenced by Labour unions in the country.

Governor Malinde also went ahead to set up a committee which comprises both representatives of these labor unions and the state government.

The representatives of the state government include the Permanent Secretary, Service matters, the Head of Service, Director Service Matters, Director, Establishment, Permanent secretary finance and some others.

The Labour Union also includes the Joint Negotiating Council, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) etc.

Governor Makinde met with the leadership of these unions yesterday and he gave them 8 weeks to decide a suitable minimum wage.

He revealed the Administration would be prepared for whatever is happening in the country so they can work effectively.

He said they can pay beyond the national minimum wage in oyo State.
