Wow, that’s harsh but it shows he’s serious about discipline. Basically, he walked in, saw almost all staff absent, and immediately fired them. It’s a strong message to others if you’re being paid to work, you need to show up, no excuses.

Chai..the governor should have reconsider, most of these staffs are not coping well with the peanut that is called salary, most of them can't survive with it alone

Soludo clearly isn’t playing. When more than 80% of workers didn’t show up by 10 am, he fired them on the spot. The message is loud and clear: you show up and do your work, or you’re out. No excuses.

Exactly, that’s a no-nonsense move. Attendance isn’t optional, and Soludo made it clear that being on the payroll comes with responsibility. If you’re getting paid, you show up; if not, you’re out. Simple as that.

True oh, that salary situation is rough. When people are barely surviving on what they earn, showing up consistently can be a real struggle. The governor’s point on discipline is valid, but it doesn’t change the fact that low pay is part of why staff attendance suffers.

Exactly, it’s really tough. Losing a month’s pay on top of an already small salary can hit families hard. Discipline is important, but without fair compensation, expecting perfect attendance feels a bit unfair.

I saw the video of when he stormed in there,Soludo is not in for play in this his second tenure. It is more of I have nothing to loose after this.

It's not harsh because they are being paid to work and if for any reason you will be absent, permission should be formally taken. It is hard Nigeria will progress because of such attitudes.

Since they are aware that is the source of their livelihood why are they absent from work? I wish this will not only happen in Anambra but other states inclusive.

Even if they are paid heaven and earth without discipline they will still behave the same way.

“Were they wrong to be absent?” - clearly, yes.

The deeper question is: “How did the system allow 80% absence to become possible in the first place?”
