INEC Declares Fintiri as Winner of supplementary Adamawa Gov Election

View attachment 2001

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ahmadu Fintiri, has been declared the winner of the supplementary governorship election in Adamawa State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made the announcement yesterday evening.

This is coming exactly a month after the original governorship election held in Nigeria. The first governorship election was held on the 18th of March, 2023.

The supplementary elections held on the 15th of April 2023 and this declaration of the winner is coming on the 18th of April.

There has been a little issue over the winner of the election in Adamawa and finally a winner has emerged.

At the end of the elections, the total votes Fintiri polled were 430,861and he defeated his closest opponent Binani who had a total of 398,738 votes.

Recall the first election were declared inconclusive and that was why a supplementary election date was fixed.

Prior to this, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the state, Hudu Yunusa Ari, suddenly declared Binani as the winner, and this caused issues because only the returning officer is allowed to announce the result and declare the winner of an election.
