Tragedy hit the area of Ago Palace Way in Okota area of Isolo yesterday as a motorist hit a tricycle which led to the death of a pregnant woman and two kids.
The vehicle ran into a tricycle on motion after he was being chased by some LASTMA officials for breaking traffic rules.
The vehicle was a Toyota Sienna bus with the number plate AKD 944 HN.
According to eyewitnesses, one of the LASTMA officials who was inside the vehicle struggled to take over the steering wheel from the driver. This went on for a few seconds while the vehicle was in motion.
Unfortunately, the driver lost control and the vehicle collided with a tricycle killing a pregnant woman and the tricyclist. The tricyclist and pregnant woman died on the spot while the children became unconscious.
This erupted a violent protest at the scene which led to the mob attacking the police officer and LASTMA officials who were struggling with the driver.
The two children were later confirmed to be in a critical condition but no one is sure whether the Sienna driver made it alive or not but the last information obtained was that he is in a critical condition.
