NGX TRADING SUMMARY FOR FRIDAY, JUNE 7, 2024: MARKET SHOWS SIGNIFICANT GAINS

On Friday, June 7, 2024, the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX) saw an active trading day with a total of 388,015,673 shares exchanged in 7,106 deals, amounting to a market value of NGN 7,353,437,736.28. This marked a significant improvement compared to the previous trading day on June 6, with a 25% increase in volume, a 37% rise in turnover, and a 5% uptick in the number of deals. The current market capitalization stands at NGN 56.1 trillion.

Out of the 126 NGX-listed equities that participated in the trading session, 23 recorded gains while 18 saw declines. Leading the gainers was Chams, with a 10% increase in share price, closing at NGN 1.54 per share. Following closely were Ecobank Transnational with an 8.41% rise, International Energy Insurance at 6.99%, and Caverton Offshore Support Group with a 6.92% increase.

On the losing end, Royal Exchange experienced the largest drop with a 9.68% decrease, ending the day at NGN 0.56 per share. Prestige Assurance Company fell by 9.09%, Veritas Kapital Assurance by 8.7%, and Universal Insurance Company by 5.71%.

Among the highest volume traders, Access Holdings led with 81 million shares traded, followed by Zenith Bank with 43.2 million shares, Fidelity Bank with 35 million shares, and Oando with 33.8 million shares.

Overall, the NGX demonstrated robust activity and growth, reflecting a positive sentiment among investors.
