NGX TRADING SUMMARY FOR TUESDAY, May 28, 2024

At the end of today's trading session on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), a total of 559,608,966 shares in 7,990 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 6,584,605,080.79, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Monday, May 27), today's data shows a 52% improvement in volume and an 11% improvement in turnover. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 55.7 trillion.

In the aggregate, 125 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 28 gainers and 14 losers. Dangote Sugar Refinery led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation, closing at NGN 42.90 per share, followed by National Salt Company (+9.88%), Morison Industries (+9.88%), and PZ Cussons Nigeria (+9.6%). On the losing side, Sovereign Trust Insurance had the highest depreciation with a 9.52% decline to NGN 0.38 per share, followed by Universal Insurance Company (-8.33%), The Initiates (-5%), and Lafarge Wapco (-4.86%). Abbey Mortgage Bank recorded the highest volume of traded shares with 278 million, followed by Access Holdings (81.9m), FBN Holdings (31.5m), and United Bank for Africa (22m).
