NIGERIA AND BRAZIL TO LAUNCH DIRECT FLIGHTS WITH AIR PEACE AND CAVERTON AS OPERATORS

The Nigerian Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, recently met with the Brazilian Ambassador to Nigeria, Carlos Garcete, to revive the Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) between the two countries. This move aims to establish direct flights between Nigeria and Brazil, following a 2018 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Both sides highlighted the cultural and economic benefits that these flights could bring, with the ambassador noting that flights could start as frequently as four to five times per week.

Keyamo emphasized the potential boost to trade, culture, and social exchanges that direct air routes would enable. Two Nigerian airlines, Air Peace and Caverton, have been designated to operate on this route, marking a strategic partnership for both nations. Committees from each country will finalize the necessary arrangements to operationalize these flights, with future agreements to be signed in Brazil.

This initiative is expected to contribute to the expansion of Nigeria’s aviation industry and strengthen ties with Brazil.
