The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) exposes a hospital used as a baby factory in Owerri, Imo State.
A hospital in Owerri West LGA known as Beautiful Gate Clinic and Maternity has been exposed for alleged child trafficking.
An eyewitness known as Esther Udo Udo from Cross River State revealed that the hospital management promised her a sum of 700,000 after giving birth to a baby. The hospital paid her 150,000 instead of the agreed amount. Unsatisfied with their actions, she reported them to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) who in turn, reported the case to the NSCDC for a thorough investigation.
With the information gathered, the NSCDC said Beautiful Gate Hospital brings in pregnant women and pays them off after collecting their babies from them. The security agency, however, assured that proper investigation will be conducted to bring the perpetrators to book and reduce baby factories across the nation.
