Following the attack on Saint Francis Catholic Church in Owo by gunmen, Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has proclaimed a seven-day mourning period in the state.

Akeredolu ordered all public buildings, facilities, and official residences in the state to fly flags at half-mast for seven days in honor of the victims of the Sunday terror attack.

The Governor claims that the attack on the church's innocent worshipers was a calculated and purposeful attack on the citizens of the state.

Those who carried out the unjustified terror attack on the people, according to Akeredolu, have put everyone's resolve to the test.

"We will not be discouraged in responding correctly to this despicable conduct," the Governor said in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde.

I thus instruct that all flags be flown at half-mast for seven days, beginning today, Monday, June 6, and ending Sunday, June 12, 2022, in honor of the victims of this tragic act.

"The people of our dear state have suffered a collective loss."
