Hello everyone! There’s a lot of 'Paint' on the gainers' chart lately. After 4 years of suspension, Premier Paints has officially returned to the NGX and just hit ₦34.10 today (+10%).
The numbers tell an interesting story: they finally filed their results, showing a ₦2.16 million profit for FY 2025 (compared to a loss in 2024). It’s a modest profit, but it shows they are finally breathing again. Plus, there are whispers about a 51% stake sale to Xenergi Limited, which might be what’s driving this 'Super-Cycle' momentum.
The Question: At ₦34.10, are we buying the 'Recovery Story' or is the 200% gain this month starting to look a bit 'Over-painted'? Would you enter now or wait for a pullback? ️

Interesting one. For me, Premier Paints Plc looks more like a recovery story driven by expectations, not fundamentals yet.
Yes, returning to profit is a good sign, but ₦2.16m profit and a 200% rally don’t really match. The current price seems to be pricing in the Xenergi deal already.
At ₦34, I think risk is high for fresh entry. I’ll rather wait for a pullback or more clarity on the acquisition before jumping in.
For now, it feels more like momentum than value.

I’m standing with you on this one, @Chinyere! ‍♂️ 'Momentum over Value' is the perfect way to describe PREMPAINTS at the moment.
While the Xenergi Limited stake sale is a strong 'Catalyst,' we have to remember that a 200% rally in a month usually leaves the fundamentals gasping for air. At ₦34.10, the margin of safety has practically vanished. In a market where inflation is at 15.06%, we can't afford to chase 'Over-painted' stories without seeing the actual merger details. I’m also in the 'Waiting for a Pullback' camp; better to miss a spike than to be the one holding the bag if the 'Super-Cycle' sentiment shifts!

Let’s be very clear from the start: what you’re seeing in Premier Paints Plc right now is not a recovery yet, it is a repricing of possibility. And possibility is the most expensive thing in any market.

Strip away from the excitement, look at the structure:

N2.16 million profit after a loss is not a turnaround. It is stabilization at a very low base

A 200% price move is not earnings-driven, It is expectation-driven

So the price is not reflecting what the company is today… it is reflecting what investors hope it could become.
