Actor Prince Eke isn’t mincing words. On Instagram, he called the life imprisonment sentence handed to IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu a “political stunt,” suggesting the punishment is a bargaining chip for 2027.

This hits at something bigger: the intersection of activism and celebrity in Nigeria. Prince Eke — a well-known Nollywood figure — is using his platform to make a political point. That shows how our entertainers are no longer just artists: they’re also political commentators. Whether you agree or not, his voice will resonate with many young Nigerians who feel alienated or disillusioned by mainstream politics.

he Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has sentenced Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed group Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to life imprisonment over terrorism offences.

Kanu stood trial for seven-count charges of terrorism brought against him by the Federal Government. Delivering judgement on Thursday, November 20, 2025, Justice James Omotoshopronounced the Biafran agitator convicted on all charges.
