Senators receive N37 million monthly while the average worker receives N30,000, NLC fumes

Members of the Nigeria Labor Congress(NLC) voice the disparities between the monthly salaries of a Senator and an average Nigerian worker. They opined that asking for an increase in the minimum wage is the right thing to do since inflation has eaten deep into the economy. The prices of commodities have tripled while the minimum wage remains N30,000. Hence, they are in the right to demand that the Federal Government increase the minimum wage up to N1 million naira.

Workers in all Industries have joined the NLC strike in solidarity with the union's request. However, the federal government has yet to approve the proposed minimum wage, and no one knows for sure when the strike will come to an end. Even the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared an indefinite strike after the union joined the ongoing NLC strike.
