Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde has assured residents of Ibadan that all those involved in the explosion that occurred on Tuesday, 16th January around Bodija area of Ibadan, will be brought to book.

In a press conference yesterday, Makinde said Pres. Tinubu has approved that the National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) should take immediate action. The president also sent his condolences to the families of the bereaved. Makinde urged the public to stop spreading false information about the explosion that could potentially cause panic within the populace.

Gov. Makinde spoke about the false news circulating that some people have invaded Yorubaland, asking the public to be mindful of what they say.

"I saw on a platform also where somebody said some random people on the street mentioned that they were being asked to pay to receive medical treatment or they were being asked to pay to stay in the hotels.

Who should they believe? Should they believe the random people or me as the governor or the Chief Security Officer of this state? That is how low we have sunk as a country where people doubt their leaders. The trust deficit between the government and the people has been kept widened.", he added.

Gov. Makinde urged the public to remain calm as the authorities are working tirelessly to stay on top of the situation.
