The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) announced on Monday that its current strike would be prolonged for another 12 weeks.Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, the president of ASUU, made the announcement.

This, according to Osodeke, is to give the administration adequate time to handle all pending concerns satisfactorily.

On May 8, 2021, at 12:01 a.m., the roll-over strike will begin.

The decision was reached following the ASUU National Executive Council meeting, which began on Sunday night at the University of Abuja's Comrade Festus Iyayi National Secretariat. ASUU accused the Federal Government of not being serious during the meeting.

ASUU wants the release of university revitalization money as well as the renegotiation and implementation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement.
