Walter Mulombo, is the WHO representative in Nigeria. During the pentavalent vaccines donation by the Indonesian government that took place in Abuja, Walter mentioned that Nigeria is in dire need of vaccines.

In his words, "Nigeria is in dire need of vaccines to close the gap of zero-dose children and we believe your contribution will go a long way as Nigeria is accelerating to close that gap. It is very important to show we support the avenue of South-South collaboration."

He further stated that Nigeria has suffered from insufficient vaccines since the advent of Covid-19. He suggested that there should be collaboration to enhance the local production of vaccines in the country.

In response, Dr. Usra Harahap, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, said that vaccines help to guide against certain diseases such as hepatitis B, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, and Hemophilus influenzae type B, especially in young children and newborn babies in Nigeria. He further stated that 1,580,000 vaccines have been donated to the Federal Government.

The quest for collaboration as stated by Walter Mulombo, is to ensure the equitable distribution of vaccines across the society.
