Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani has said only 137 children were abducted in the Kuriga school kidnapping, not 287 as circulated by the media.

Following the release of the abducted school children, Governor Sani said the number of children that were kidnapped was 137 not 287. Sani commended the efforts of the Nigerian Army in rescuing the children from the kidnappers' den. He complained about how Nigerians are downplaying the efforts of the Nigerian Army in combating insecurity in the country.

Governor Sani disclosed that he met with the families of the victims and they confirmed that there were 137 children. Sadly, a teacher lost his life after developing some health complications in captivity.
