148 Somalis evacuated from Sudan

148 Somalis have been evacuated from Sudan. These Somalis are mostly students who were studying in Sudan before the crisis began.

Recall many other countries began to evacuate their people as soon as an agreement for a 3 day ceasefire was made.

According to Abdurahman Nur Mohamed Diinaari who is an official in the somali foreign ministry, they were evacuated by plane and have arrived at their home land.

He revealed that this was possible with the assistance of the International Organization for Migration. The Somalia foreign ministry with their help has been able to transport them from Sudan back to Somalia.

He revealed that they first traveled on land to Ethiopia before they were airlifted to Somalia.

Some of these evacuees have expressed their joy to be back in their country alive and well despite what they had faced.

There were thousands of Somalis, mostly students, in Sudan but many fled as soon as the crisis began. They fled to countries that border Sudan.

Within weeks of the start of this crisis, many have been killed and thousands injured.
