Awgbu attack leads to death of 5 people and destruction of property
An attack on Awgbu has led to the death of 5 people and destruction of property.
This town is in the Orumba North local government area in Anambra State.
5 people were killed in this attack on this community. So many properties worth millions were also destroyed.
The president general of the town, who isHon Emmanuel Akidi spoke on this incident and revealed this.
He also revealed that this attack isn't as a result of political issues but probably as revenge.
As part of the statement which was released, it read that thus began when some armed commercial motorcyclists had chased some people into the community and fired shots into the air. This had happened on Wednesday.
Some men of the community were able to apprehend 3 of them. The Vigilante was only able to rescue one and hand him over to the police but the other two were executed by the angry crowd of people.
The following day which was Thursday, some hoodlums them attacked the community. They came in tricycles.
They started a fire in the market and many shots were burnt and properties wrecked.
They had also shot 4 people dead. Another person was burnt to death in his shop.
He went ahead to plead with the Anambra State Police command to investigate the matter and get to the bottom of it.
He also begged the government of Anambra to help the families of the victims.
