NGX TRADING SUMMARY FOR THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2024

At the end of Thursday’s trading session on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), the market experienced notable activity:

1. Trading Volume & Value:
Total Shares Traded: 239,308,707 shares across 7,318 deals.

Market Value: NGN 6.41 billion (approximately NGN 6,408,745,640.98).

Compared to the previous trading day (Wednesday, October 16), there was a:

7% decline in volume of shares traded,
29% decrease in turnover, and
6% decline in the number of deals executed.

2. Market Capitalization:
The current total market capitalization stood at NGN 59.4 trillion, reflecting the value of all listed companies on the exchange.

3. Market Performance:
120 listed equities participated in trading.
Out of these, 29 stocks gained in price, while 16 stocks recorded losses.

4. Top Gainers:
Golden Guinea Breweries led the gainers with a 10% price increase, closing at NGN 3.74 per share.
Other top gainers include:
Deap Capital Management & Trust (+9.85%),
Transcorp Power (+9.68%),
Jaiz Bank (+8.64%).

5. Top Losers:
Aradel Holdings topped the losers, shedding 10% to close at NGN 694.80 per share.

Other prominent losers were:
Regency Alliance Insurance (-8.82%),
Daar Communications (-6.78%),
UAC of Nigeria (-6.7%).

6. Highest Trading Volumes:
Sterling Bank led in terms of volume with 42.8 million shares traded.
This was followed by:
Zenith Bank (20.1 million shares),
Guaranty Trust Holding (19.6 million shares),
Access Holdings (16.3 million shares).

7. Market Indices:
The NGX All-Share Index (ASI) decreased by 210.15 points (-0.21%), closing at 98,081.38.
