A senior staff who pleaded anonymity has denied the report that Ondo State acting Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, had frozen the account of the 18 local government councils in the state. The names of these chairmen were previously sent to the Ondo State House of Assembly by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu for approval. However, since their approval and inauguration, they have yet to resume their duty posts in office.

The information that has circulated over a couple of days has revealed that a text message was sent from the office of the Ondo Governor, instructing the inaugurated chairmen not to touch the finances of their local government councils. Each of them is to suspend all financial activities such as the signing of cheques, withdrawal, or changing of signatories. The text message urged them to strictly adhere to the instructions and be guided.

Sunday PUNCH reported that the senior staff confirmed the authenticity of the text message but denied the rumor that the Governor had frozen the accounts of each local government council.
