The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned Nigerians against storing cooked food in the refrigerator for more than three days.

NAFDAC's Director General, Prof. Moji Adeyeye addressed this in a recent statement in commemoration of World Food Safety Day 2024. Prof. Moji Adeyeye said food stored in the refrigerator for long can cause contamination which can lead to food-borne diseases and ultimately, death.

Moji Adeyeye urged Nigerians to practice good hygiene in their homes, communities, and restaurants. She stressed the need to promote food safety awareness and prevent the risk of foodborne diseases across the world. She encouraged everyone to support the movement because food safety is a collective responsibility.
