Student of Akwa Ibom poly dies in river
A student of the Akwa Ibom Polytechnic has passed away. The student reportedly died in a River.
The corpse of this student was found in the river in Abiakpo community.
Sources say he had gone to swim in the river. He has been identified as Edidiong Monday.
The young guy was a NDII student of the Department of Electrical Electronics Engineering (National Diploma).
Some people in the community found his bpdy floating in the river on Saturday.
We had learnt that he went out with some friends to swim in the river. Strangers are not allowed to swim in this particular river.
The Rector of the polytechnic, Dr Moses Umobong, was contacted yesterday and he mentioned how sad he was to hear about the news.
He said they have wanted students to heed to instructions.
He mentioned that where he lives they have water. He claimed the villagers have warned students not to go to swim or bath in that river.
He says the river took him and that was how the boy had died.
