A throwback video of Access Bank CEO Herbert Wigwe promising to build a university for his people has resurfaced online after his death.

Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba Wigwe, and his son Chizi died in a helicopter crash near Nipton, California yesterday 10th February 2024 alongside former Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc Abimbola Ogunbanjo and two others.

After building one of the most successful banks in Africa, the native of Rivers State assured his community that his university would be of a reputable standard and the best in Africa. It is quite painful that Herbert Wigwe didn't live to complete this dream as he tragically passed away yesterday in a helicopter crash with his wife and son. He is survived by his three children, Tochi, Hannah, and David Wigwe.
